The “Magic Marquetry” three witches cabinet

Took me forever to make! Partly decorated in marquetry and partly carved/engraved. It’s two piles of books. Each book has an author who’s a friend of mine. It’s metamorphic. It’s a bit crazy. It’s very personal. It’s very eccentric, or just plain weird. Some people love it, some people hate it. But it’s very me.

TALL CLASSICAL BOOKCASE

Made in a modern style with a strong classical influence measuring 87” long, 78” tall, 23” deep. Made from Sycamore and walnut with a marquetry panel at each end.The interior is of a framed and panelled construction with fully adjustable shelving, all in sycamore.

SERETAIRE BOOKCASE

Made as a matched pair in natural coloured oak with dovetail joints in the traditional manner which is finished with a simple wax finish. WILLIAM & MARY LACE BOX

Reproduced by myself as a jewellery box which I intended to sit in the William and Mary Escritiore. The marquetry is stack cut, each element then cut into the stained black background. Made in walnut veneer on lime with cross-grained walnut mouldings. Dimensions 13” x 19” x 3” deep.

NAPOLEAN III BOX

This piece is modelled on a French jewel casket.  Tulip wood with walnut mouldings and floral marquetry on a sycamore background. Dimensions 13” x 8” x 5” deep.

QUEEN ANN STOOL

Design copied from a set of plans in Verna Cook Salomonsky’s book ‘Masterpieces of furniture’. Made of English walnut with cabriole legs with turned bunn feet. The upholstery is built up upon a separate removable framework.
